Sobering. Someone in one of the Guatemala books I readby now there have been so many that I can no longer attribute anything to a specific sourcesaid that the most enduring scar from the 36-year civil war is that now violence is seen as the only solution to any problem; after a lifetime of combat, it's the only language that anyone knows how to speak.
